I was trained as an environmental engineer and biological system modeler at the Polytechnic University of Milan. Since my PhD, I work on the conception and simulation of biophysical models for highlighting the processes of fruit growth that are important for fruit quality. My research activity concerns the model-assisted description of water and solutes transport in the fruit tissues, the study of cell division and expansion, the exploration of secondary metabolism, and the model-assisted analysis of the fruit’s emergent features. I use optimization methods for model calibration and validation, and the research of ideotypes.
