POSITION

A postdoctoral position is available beginning on or after the first of April 2015, in the Evolution and Specificity of Multitrophic Interactions (ESIM) team at INRA Sophia Agrobiotech Institute, France (/Research-teams/ESIM).

This position is a 18 months appointment funded by the French ANR ImBio “Impacts of chronic intoxication by Bacillus thuringiensis (kurstaki) bioinsecticides on the intestinal homeostasis and the immune response: from insects to mammals”.

The project aims at:

1. Evaluate the impact of chronic exposure to Bt and Bt toxins on i) the larval immune response of Drosophila species (focusing on cellular immunity) ii) the intoxicated Drosophila larva capacity to resist parasitism by different parasitoid wasps. This will be used to estimate the ecological consequences of Bt chronic exposure on non-target host-parasitoid interactions.
2. Evaluate the direct and indirect (through the host) effect of Bt toxins on non-target parasitoid wasps. These studies will integrate the possible synergistic interactions between Bt bioinsecticides and some toxic chemicals found in the environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a motivated post-doctoral researcher with a background in insect physiology (notably immunology), and knowledge in bioinformatics. Priority will be given to applicants with hands-on experience in cell biology, molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Knowledge of Drosophila/parasitoid wasps models, experience with insecticides and Bt, will be a plus.

SALARY

Salary will depend on the candidate experience. The minimum starting salary is 1800 € neat/month.
