DicaBio (2016 - 2019)

Development of dicaffeoylquinic and dicaffeoyltartaric acids as natural substances of biocontrol

The DicaBio project aims to propose an alternative to synthetic pesticides by developing as biopesticides natural molecules of which we have shown the toxic properties for aphids. These antioxidant molecules, present in our diet, are without known risks for human health.

This project, which associates 4 research units of INRA in Avignon and a company in the phytopharmacy sector, aims to:

  1. study the chemical stability of these compounds and develop effective formulations in the field against aphids and also against some phytopathogenic fungi.
  2. study the capacity of  adaptation of aphids to these substances.
  3. study their impact on bees.

Ultimately, this project may provide an innovating solution, sustainable and respectful of the environment, for the biocontrol of aphids and others pathogens.
