Robustness of plant immunity under biotic and abiotic stresses

The stability of agricultural production and therefore food security are threatened by climate changes. The variability of biotic and abiotic stresses modifies the effectiveness of plant immunity. The thesis project is focused on phenotypic robustness under stress, an emerging concept in plant biology. The RobusThèse project aims to identify by GWAS (Genome ‐ Wide Association Study) in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) QTLs (Quantitative Trait Loci) determining the robustness of immunity against the oomycete Phytophthora capsici and potato virus Y (PVY), under two thermal regimes, and to determine whether there is a link between robustness, photosynthetic activity and yield, in healthy and infected conditions. The genericity of plant robustness will be assessed by measuring the effect of robustness QTLs on plant immunity under new biotic or abiotic stresses, applied individually or in combination.
