Varietal selection for resistance to several viruses in cucumbers : from genomic selection to comparative genomics of gene repertoires associated with oligogenic resistance.

Genomic selection has been adopted to breed livestock and some to predict the phenotypic performance of an individual using only genotypic data. However, models often assume that the genetic architecture of the trait of interest involves many QTLs with small individual effects, which does not correspond to the known genetic architecture of cucumber virus resistance traits.

The objectives of the project are to propose a genomic prediction method for resistance to several viruses in cucumbers and to better understand the specifics of viral resistance in Cucurbitaceae by comparing it to viral resistance in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana.
